Darius Winter, MD, FACP
Dr. Darius Winter graduated in 1953 from the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. He continued to practice medicine in Romania until 1973 and then immigrated to the US. He completed his training in Internal Medicine at NYHQ, and in 1976 started his private practice in Rego Park, a community that Dr. Winter continues to serve proudly to this day. His long time dedication to medical practice has earned him a Citation and a Certificate of Merit from the American Medical Association for 50 years of devoted work.
Dr. Winter holds a PhD in Pharmacology, and is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He has attending privileges at NYU Langone Medical Center, NYHQ, and North Shore-Long Island Jewish Medical Center of Forest Hills.
In 2003, Dr. Winter joined NYU Medical at Columbus to offer his patients the benefits of up to date state-of-the-art technology and access to all specialists on the premises. His extensive experience in many fields of Internal Medicine allows Dr. Winter to offer a multidisciplinary approach to medical care, combining comprehensive diagnostic evaluation with dedicated and individualized treatment, accompanied by superb coordination of action with all specialties involved in follow-up care.
As part of this practice he opened an obesity clinic offering a personalized supervised diet program with detailed diet instructions and a closed follow up, integrated with a modified life style program which includes physical exercise in the physical medicine dept.
Possessing a great degree of familiarity with the geriatric community, Dr. Winter focuses mostly on elderly diseases, including Cardiovascular Diseases, with special attention to Diabetes, Hypertension, and High Cholesterol. He is also proficient in the diagnoses and treatment of psychiatric conditions affecting the elderly, such as depression, general anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, and dementia.
