Cardiology and Cardiac Rehabilitation Services

NYU Medical at Columbus Cardiology offers advanced technology for diagnostics and treatment of cardiovascular disease. We also provide screenings, education and treatment for:

• Cardiac arrhythmias and AV-blocks

• Shortness of breath and chest pain

• Congestive heart failure (CHF)

Our PET-CT scan is the most accurate test available for identifying coronary artery disease and we offer the following testing and diagnostic procedures:

• Nuclear Stress Tests
• Calcium Scoring Tests
• EKG
• 24-hour rhythm monitoring (Holter monitor)
• Sonography (Echocardiogram)
• Impedance Cardiography
• Enhanced External Contrapulsation System

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Our Cardiac Rehabilitation Services include medically supervised and individualized exercise programs for people who have had a heart attack, heart surgery or have had abnormal stress test results. The aim of each program is to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiac illness, reduce the risk of sudden death or relapse, control cardiac symptoms, stabilize and improve a patient's condition and improve a patient's quality of life.

A cardiac rehabilitation specialist works with each patient and closely monitors electrocardiogram tracings and blood pressures during exercise sessions using our state-of-the-art equipment. We offer special programs for the treatment of post-MI and post-cardiac surgery patients in our Rehabilitation Center, including:

• Exercising with continuous cardio-vascular monitoring
• Exercise tolerance testing
