Alexander Bangiev, MD
Dr. Alexander Bangiev completed 3 years of residency training in Internal Medicine at New York Hospital of Queens (NYHQ), an affiliate of New York-Presbyterian Hospital at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Following his residency training, he served one year as a Chief Medical Resident and then was accepted into a two-year Fellowship Program in Nephrology at the same institution. While in training, he received additional experience with renal transplantation at The Rogosin Kidney Center of New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Bangiev has been Board Certified in Internal Medicine since September of 2002 and became Board Certified in Nephrology in 2005. In 2001 he was declared “Best Post-Graduate-Year II Resident” at NYHQ and in 2004, the Kidney and Urology Foundation of America awarded Dr. Bangiev a Clinical Fellowship Award, “The Theodore Kowalsky Fellowship Award,” for his clinical research. Dr. Bangiev's research focuses on hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney diseases (CKD), and particularly, iron replacement therapy for CKD anemic patients.
At the present time, Dr. Bangiev is head of the In-patient Nephrology Division of the Department of Medicine at Parkway Hospital. At NYU Medical at Columbus, Dr. Bangiev is the physician in charge of the Hypertension Clinic and the Iron Deficiency Anemia Clinic.
