Anvar Babaev, MD, PhD, FACC
Upon completion of medical school, Dr. Anvar Babaev received extensive training in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Interventional Cardiology. He completed 3 years of residency training program in Internal Medicine followed by 3 years of the Cardiology Fellowship Program at St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, Columbia University, New York. Following his extensive training in General Cardiology, Dr. Babaev completed his Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at NYU Langone Medical Center, New York University School of Medicine.
In addition to his clinical training, Dr. Babaev was invited to conduct postdoctoral research at Columbia University in New York, where he spent 3 years working on various projects related to Hypertension and Cardiovascular Diseases. The findings of Dr. Babaev's research have been published in multiple scientific journals, and he has presented his research at national and international scientific meetings and conferences. Dr. Babaev has been a co-investigator in over one dozen multicenter research trials evaluating a variety of invasive and non-invasive treatments for patients with coronary artery disease, myocardial infarction, hypertension, and peripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Babaev has authored over 30 articles and abstracts in such prestigious journals as the Journal of the American Medical Association, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Circulation, The American Journal of Cardiology, the Journal of Investigative Medicine, the American Journal of Hypertension, and the European Heart Journal. As a leading specialist in his field, he is repeatedly invited to present the results of his research as well as a guest speaker to the various national and international scientific meetings.
Dr. Babaev is triple Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases, and the American Board of Interventional Cardiology. He is a Fellow member of multiple medical societies including the American College of Cardiology, the American Society for Interventional Cardiology, and the American Medical Association. Presently, he is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Cardiology, at NYU School of Medicine.
Dr. Babaev specializes in Invasive and Interventional Cardiology that include performance of Cardiac Catheterization, Stent Placement, Coronary Balloon Angioplasty. Dr. Babaev is one of the very few specialists in the field who performs minimally invasive procedures to restore circulation in arteries of the lower extremities, renal arteries, and carotid arteries. A significant number of the patients he treats are referred to him by other cardiologists when very complex interventional procedures are required to be performed. Honoring his expertise in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease using minimally invasive approach, Dr. Babaev was given a title of the Director of Peripheral Interventions at the Cardiac catheterization Laboratories at NYU Langone Medical Center.
Dr. Babaev is also actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. He is an Associate Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Training Program at NYU School of Medicine.
