Joon Song, MD
Dr. Song brings a unique mix of skills to his surgical practice. In addition to being a highly experienced minimally-invasive surgeon, having performed over 1,000 laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures for benign, infertility and urogynecologic conditions, he also has extensive training in reproductive medicine, including in vitro fertilization. A board-certified endoscopic gynecologic surgeon, he is currently transferring his extensive expertise in laparoscopy to the field of robot-assisted gynecologic surgery. In addition to using robotic surgery to treat conditions like fibroids, endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain and pelvic organ prolapse, he is pioneering the use of robotic techniques to reverse tubal ligation—a relatively new procedure known as tubal recanalization. Dr. Song is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and has Level 3 certification from the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists.
Dr. Song joined the NYU Langone Medical Center faculty in 2010. Services include robotic surgery through the NYU Robotic Surgery Center at Langone Medical Center. Dr. Song’s research includes endoscopic gynecologic surgery, translational biology for women’s health initiatives and intraperiotoneal adhesions.
